Desert Highlands Scottsdale
Desert Highlands is a very prestigious member owned golf and tennis Community in Troon Scottsdale. It is one of the most desirable communities in Arizona. There are only 560 total home sites within the 850 acre community. Desert Highlands was developed in 1983 by the Lyle Anderson Company and was the first private residential community in Scottsdale built around the nucleus of a country club.Desert Highlands Golf
The Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course is at the center of the community. The course has classic Nicklaus style and design including narrow fairways with dramatic elevated tees and greens. The course is a par 72 with five sets of men’s tees and three sets of ladies’ tees. It was the inaugural home of the Skins Game featuring Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Gary Player. It was selected as one of “America’s Top 100 Golf Courses” by Golf Digest in 1986, 1991 and 1992. It was named as one of the “Best Private Golf Courses in the US” by Golf Digest in 2000 and 2002. The practice range has numerous practice stations with unlimited complimentary range balls. Separate pitching/chipping practice areas, as well as several sand practice areas. There are no restrictions on walking versus riding. All tee times can be reserved 7 days in advance.
There is also an extensive 18-hole Putting Course (par 41) featuring 60,000 square feet of putting surface. It was the only one of its kind in North America when it was built. Members can practice their short game on a full 18 hole course. The putting course is also a favorite of many “non-golfers” who simply want to pick up a club and get out there to enjoy the Arizona sunshine.
Racquet Club and Tennis
In addition to golf, Desert Highlands also boasts many other recreational activities. There is an exceptional Racquet Club for tennis enthusiasts. There are thirteen tennis courts including clay courts, grass courts, Nova Pro Bounce courts and hard surface LayKold courts. Desert Highlands is known to have one of the finest Tennis facilities in all of Arizona. It was the winner of the Outstanding Tennis Facility Award (2000) by the US Tennis and Track Builders Association. It was also featured in the December 2006 issue of Tennis Magazine as one of the “Six Great Places to Retire”. The Tennis Clubhouse has a Pro Shop, players lounge, mens and ladies locker rooms, showers and complimentary beverages. There are 3 full time staff members and private or group lessons are available.
Fitness
The Desert Highlands Fitness Center is a 7000 square foot masterpiece with circuit training, aerobic, cardio equipment and many different classes to choose from. Choose from over 30 work out stations including stepmasters, Precor Ellipticals, treadmills, stationary bicycles and a broad range of Cybex machines and free weights. There are three 42 inch Plasma flat screen TVs. Six nationally certified personal trainers are available to help you reach your fitness goals. The Fitness Center features two private massage rooms, luxurious mens and ladies locker rooms with showers and steam rooms. The Fitness Center is available to members 7 days a week from 5 am to 9 pm. Members also enjoy 3.5 miles of walking or jogging paths winding throughout this picturesque community. The City of Scottsdale Pinnacle Peak Park is next to Desert Highlands and has some of the best hiking and rock climbing in all of Scottsdale.
Clubhouse
The award winning Desert Highlands Clubhouse has some of the most spectacular Pinnacle Peak and city light views in Scottsdale. There are four dining rooms, each with its own character and ambiance, ranging from casual to elegant. Full bar service is available. In addition pool side drinks and dining is available. The Culinary Staff is comprised of an Executive Chef, three Sous Chefs, a Pastry Chef and more than 20 culinary professionals. Parking valet service is available and there is a “no tipping” policy throughout the club. Concierge services are available 7 days per week. The Concierge can arrange local hotel and restaurant reservations, or acquire concert, theatre and sporting event tickets. The clubhouse features a heated swimming pool with luxury sun lounges and dining tables. The pool is heated daily year round at 84 degrees. Memberships
Membership in the Desert Highlands Golf Club is tied to property ownership within the community. All property owners in Desert Highlands are automatically members of the Desert Highlands Golf Club. You cannot own a home in Desert Highlands without the membership. Alternatively, it is impossible to become a member in the Club without owning property in the community. There is an initial one time membership fee of $75,000 upon purchase of a home. This membership fee entitles the new member to unrestricted use of all Club facilities and services including the Golf Course, Putting Course, Tennis Center, Fitness Center, Pool, Clubhouse and Concierge. There is also dues of $1007 per month which covers the combined Club dues and homeowner association fee.
Residential Services
The Desert Highlands Club has a Residential Services department to help members maintain their homes. This is especially useful for vacation or part-time residences. The Residential Services department has a host of services available for absentee homeowners including weekly home inspection, security alarm activation/shut off, landscape maintenance, pool cleaning and maintenance, pest prevention, mail forwarding, home opening and closing services, on site car washing and detailing etc. It is the most extensive program of any Scottsdale golf community. Security
Desert Highlands is an extremely secure community. It is a 100% walled and gated community with more than 9 miles of walls surrounding the community. There is a 24 hour manned main gate which is also camera monitored and all guests much check-in and exit through this gate.. Security officers are highly trained and are direct employees of Desert Highlands (not a contracted service). Three security vehicles patrol the community round the clock and there are 14 monitored security cameras throughout the community
