The Troon area in Scottsdale is primarily comprised of four large master planned communities: Desert Highlands, Estancia, Troon North, and Troon Village. This high desert area is roughly 1500 feet higher than the valley floor. It is comprised of scattered granite mountains, hills, ridges, and knobs. Rainfall is roughly twice that of the valley floor creating a thick, lush, and diverse landscape.
Troon Village is a 1,400 acre golf community in North Scottsdale. There are multiple subdivisions within this community that offer an assortment of residential choices, from townhomes to custom built spec homes with casitas. Most property in Troon ranges from $500,000 to over $3,000,000. This unique community surrounds Troon Mountain and features higher elevations of about 2,400 feet that increase the beauty of the Sonoran desert landscape. The higher elevations also provide for cooler summer weather and phenomenal city light views year round.
Troon Country Club is a private, member owned golf club that strives for a world-class membership experience. The architecture of the clubhouse was inspired by the grand style of Frank Lloyd Wright and provides a unique blend of comfort and formality. This 50,000 square-foot clubhouse features both casual and fine dining, a full fitness center with personal trainers, 3 grass tennis courts, a golf pro shop, a lagoon-style pool, and many member only social activities. In 2009 Golf World rated Troon as one of the top 50 favorite private clubs. There are two types of memberships, social and golf. Memberships are limited to a total of 360 golf and 160 social. There are currently 332 golf members and 141 social members, which means the remaining membership opportunities are very limited. There is not a real estate requirement to become a member at Troon Country Club.
The championship, Par-72, 18- hole golf course is one of the main focal points of the Troon Golf Club. The course was designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish in 1986. It is very challenging yet fun and is enjoyed by both beginner and advanced golfers. It has consistently ranked amongst the top one hundred golf courses in the world by the golf press. In 2008 Golf Digest ranked this course as the tenth best course in Arizona while The Best of Arizona Business ranked it as the “Best Private Golf Course”.
